Reverential Fear of the Lord- Five things "reverential fear" produces in our lives as we sit at the feet of our Lord.- Part I
I believe the awe of our Father God produces such a reverential fear of the Lord in our hearts that as we humble ourselves to Him and seek His presence continually, He will give us the wisdom we need for the trials of this life. This is something that we must do diligently. It takes discipline to get alone with our Father God. For us to sit before Him and wait for His voice to speak to us is a difficult task for most people. This is something we must do, however, to be transformed into the image of His Son.
So the church throughout the whole of Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was edified [growing in wisdom, virtue, and piety] and walking in the respect and reverential fear of the Lord and in the consolation and exhortation of the Holy Spirit, continued to increase and was multiplied.
Vines dictionary definition of fear in Acts 9:31 (and most verses used) is phobos. It means reverential fear of God as a controlling motive of the life in matters spiritual and moral, not a mere fear of His power and righteous retribution, but a wholesome dread of displeasing Him, a fear which banishes the terror that shrinks from His presence.
